This message was scheduled to be sent out last night but due to the senseless act yesterday, we waited until today to congratulate Marcy Foster (1999 Lakeport Way) and Ian Griffin (1966 Lakeport Way) for running the Boston Marathon which is 26 miles, 385 yards (42.195 Kilometers). Our hearts go out to those affected yesterday by the two explosions. We are so pleased that Marcy and Ian are safe.
Marcy grew up in the Boston area and posted a time of 3 hours 59 minutes and 19 seconds. Marcy said, “I love running marathons and this was my 3rd Boston running through my hometown of Natick. I had just run through the finish line when the explosions went off, and it was mass confusion. Thank you all for your concern and visits with Charles while he waited to hear from me. We have a great community and I hope we all get together again soon.” She was interviewed by the FBI because of her proximity to the explosions. She said the people at the airport were incredible. Anyone wearing a marathon jacket and/or a medal was sent through the express security line and strangers offered to buy Marcy a meal. Her family and running friends are all okay.
Ian posted a time of 3 hours 30 minutes and 19 seconds. Ian said, "I was very fortunate to have completed the run prior to the explosions. It is a very sad time for the City of Boston which does a wonderful job of putting on a first class marathon. My thoughts are with the injured and their families who were traumatized by this tragedy." Ian we completely agree with your thoughts.
These are two of the nicest people that live at Lakeport. They participate in many Lakeport events and both have recently hosted TGIF parties. We are proud of both of you and so glad that you are both OK!
Have a great week!
